I have a Hertz "discount"..
But still getting quoted for $200 for 3 day rental for a standard car.
Which is fine, but..
..anyone have any other suggestions ?

I always rented from there because they have amazing cars and they have always offered discount coupons. So that i can go anywhere at very cheap price.
Try Priceline or any one of the similar sites.
If you're a member at Costco's or BJ's, there a discounts offered through some of the rental companies. Access is through their websites under "travel"

I've had good luck with Costco - another benefit is you get an extra for free driver. They seem to have the best rates on vans or large SUVs, which we need for our group - 4 guys, 4 golf travel bags, 4 suitcases. . .
