I drove down to my buddy Pete's place again, played 6 rounds in 11 days, weather ranged from 45F & rainy/misty day to 70 & sunshine. All the golf was booked by him through his group the Dragons.
Mon Feb 7 Caledonia high of 47F & a mist rain for most of front 9, then sun made an appearance on back 9 for 15 mins to warm us up a bit, then cloudy rest of the round.
We were scheduled for a 10:30 shotgun start but rains delayed it until approx 11:20, CPO
Course for the most part was pretty dry considering how much rain had fallen the previous night & morning, 3 or 4 squishy holes, rest were playable. What can you say about the layout, its a great course but the greens were a letdown, as previously reported, I think it was 7 of the 18 were packed dirt painted green which had been verticut & reseeded leaving some tufts of grass here & there. The greens that were actual grass were very good. A few holes if you hit into the waste bunkers, you had to take relief outside of it because of standing water or all mud. Hopefully all the greens will be back in order the next time I ge the chance to play here.
Wed Feb 9 Barefoot Fazio sunny, cool to start, but warmed up quickly
8:30 tee time, another top tier course, starter tells us its CPO until 9:15, then we can ride the fairways, stay out of the rough as much as possible. A few wet spots but fairways firm enough to ride on. greens were decent, over all much better than Cal.
Always a pleasure to play, a great facility.
Thurs Feb 10 Legends Heathland 9:15 tee time weather same as previous day , rode fairways all day.
all over seeds were good , greens were nice, fun course to play, wind picked up on back 9 to make play a little tougher, but a good day to be playing golf.
Sat Feb 12 Meadowlands 8:15 tee time again, same weather as previous 2 rounds
I was told that since the Farmstead super took over @ ML, that the conditions had gotten even better than they previously were, and I would agree, everything was lush, greens were full & rolled great, they were best surface I putted on all week and they held shots to the green. No worries if you have this booked, just enjoy the top tier conditions.....
Mon Feb 14 Prestwick 8:50 tee time, forecast was sunny & cooler than previous days, wind picked up on back 9 again
On arrival, starter tells about construction/maintenance being done on a few holes, only 1 affecting play is #9 green , which was closed for a temp green as the green bulkhead on the lakeside was being replaced. otherwise the course was also in great shape from tee to green, greens were just about the same as at Meadowlands but were firmer & sometimes didn't hold shots, especially to back pins. No problems booking this course except for the work being done.....one of my MB faves to play
Wed Feb 16 Barefoot Norman 8:30 tee time weather good, 60'sF by time we were done
In a little better shape than Fazio, no problems playing this course....really enjoyed it except for the amount of housing surrounding it now, lots more than the last time I played there. The holes along the waterway are really good.
I was supposed to play again on Thurs morning at Myrtlewood, but there was a storm blowing in on Thursday afternoon into Friday & didn't want to deal with it on my drive home so left a day early right after the round @ BF. Avoided it almost all the way home, only got hit with rain after I got off 81 in upstate NY on way to the Cornwall Ont border crossing. Glad I left early, it was heavy rain all day on Thurs & temp started dropping at about 9pm, everything started to freeze up & ended up with about 6 inches of snow when I woke up this morning.
Thanks for taking the time to report @wolverine12 and, most of all, glad you were able to be back safe at home!
Just got a foot of snow here in Quebec City over the last 12 hours.

Did you have to find a border crossing not blocked by the truck protest?
Thanks for describing the bad Caledonia greens.
Just curious were the bad greens clustered near each other?
Maybe that is the number of holes that could be done with one load
of wrong chemicals?
Thanks for a great report!

Thanks for the report.
Played Fazio the same day you did - great layout. Conditions were very acceptable
Golf is just an excuse to drink whiskey and smoke cigars
Thanks for reporting. Since Meadowlands did renovations a couple of years ago, it has become an outstanding course. Hopefully the work at Prestwick will be completed quickly. One of my favorites.
Kudos for your report. It is too bad for the greens at Caledonia. Meadowlands is already on my list for this spring. Great information!

Thanks for taking the time to report. Scheduled to play Meadowlands and BF Fazio when we're down in May.
Thanks for the report, haven't seen many lately. You played a great bunch of courses, too bad about the greens at Caledonia. Here's hoping we get an early spring in the Great White North with no Covid restrictions like we've had in Ontario the last 2 springs.
Great read Wolverine. Thanks for taking the time to report.
Glad to see you were able to escape the frozen tundra for a few days.
