If someone wants to be in MB for the tournament, avoid being in
MB during the tournament, or have hopes of playing The Dunes,
they need the date.

Prior to the LIV/PGA/DP merger news, the dates I heard from good sources at the club was Mother's Day week (May 9-12) which is the week prior to the PGA Championship. In 2024 the club plans to shut the course down to everyone for two weeks prior to the event, so if the above dates are correct the club would be closed April 28 to May 12. Also, instead of waiting until June to aerate, the club may decide to aerate immediately after the event. Also not sure if they will close it to non-member play prior to April 28 (once I hear word from the GM or Board President I'll pass it along here). Of course, everyone's waiting for the official 2024 PGA schedule to come out, and who knows whether the merger will throw a wrench into anything. All I know is they're digging up a lot of the gold & blue tee boxes to plant new zoysia, and they're about to re-do the entire practice putting green in preparation for the tour event.

I think as long as there are elevated events, there should be secondary events, to help
develop other players. If the top LIV golfers can play elevated events, that will push some
good ranked players to the 2nd events.
What is the purpose of Zoysia tees for the PGA Tour Event?
Is it to hold up better or what? I have zoysia on my lawn, but the only
place I see it on MB courses is around bunkers, I think to slow down the
bermuda spread. Zoysia has basically the same dormant situation as
bermuda.

Zoysia does better in the shade where a number of the back tee boxes are located. The ones in the sun that are Bermuda are being converted to Zoysia to be consistent with the others.

The dates are official for the Myrtle Beach Classic ... May 9 to May 12. This is Mother's Day weekend. The event is opposite the Wells Fargo Championship which is a designated event limited to only the top 70 or 80 players. The tournament is also the week before the PGA Championship at Valhalla.
