Keith pretty much nailed it ...
After arguing this point way too many times over the years I looked up the statute in SC. This is for LIQUOR only and does not apply to beer. The only beer caveat is none sold Sundays before 10. This is NOT something made up by the golf courses it is the law... Paragraph Number 2....Neither is the bring your own. It's illegal and a legal threat to the course and its license as well as to the golfers!!!
Ordering a drink at a bar or a restaurant is permitted between 10 AM and 2 AM Monday through Friday. Saturday, all sales of alcoholic beverages must end at 11:59 PM. Liquor stores may be open between 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM. ALSO, South Carolina state law prohibits bringing your own alcohol onto the course.
Trust us when we tell you that no property is going to risk a fine against their liquor license, so you can load up your previously purchased 12-pack.
Please be considerate of your golf courses and especially the staff that serves
