Building everywhere - this picture is immediately behind the clubhouse.

That's unfortunate. Going to hurt the course to have houses/condos everywhere.

That looks like the Woodstork 9 + 18 area.

I think only some perimeter Avocet holes would have houses.

If the course remains in good shape, that's all that matters! 😉

Thanks @UGP for reporting!

It was just a question of time. Myrtle Beach is a very good place for retirement. Many new residents are coming from the north. Will Wing will certainly try to attract those ones. It will be good for the golf course revenues.

Have wondered for quite awhile when construction would begin at WW.  Like the course & conditions.  Would like to play it again.

If you google that area where they are digging, it shows the
overgrown course, with a lot water between the holes.
I don't remember that much water on Woodstork, but maybe
it was in the woods and not easy to see.

Living in that area is nice being between a lot of courses,
but it's a lot of traffic to get out of there on 501.

This was the plan in 2005/2006 when it was purchaed by area developers and they closed 3 courses. It was to be one course and a a few neighborthoods, but in 2008 the project stalled due to the Financial Collapse of 2008. The property was sold to the Chinese Founders Group owner after tit sat there. The plan for him was to make that "little China" and bring his people over here and that is where they'd live, we're talking Cultural Arts Center and all that jazz. But then his bubble bust and the property has just sat there again ... I'm glad to see some type of action going on there whether it be by Founders or others. Sad to see that property in that light, everytime I drive through there I shake my head.

Since they closed the other 3 courses I won't go back. It was my favorite place to play when it had all 72 holes. I once played all of them in one day.

Trying to remember, but not much room to build homes off the fairways on Avocet as I recall, picture as Art says is the old Woodstork area off the driving range they have there.  Old Falcon course can be built on as well.

Does WW still have the 9 hole course besides Avocet ? I haven’t been there in 5 years or so.
