Lowery might have had an advantage, knowing the course, but it didn't help
Rory or a couple others from around there.

It's too hard to predict who will win any tournament.

It's odd after watching the tournament for a few days and still not recognizing
the holes on a course like that.

The leader for the first half of the tournament,  JB Holmes, shot an 87 today.. finishing in 67th place.

Ouch.

Ouch...for J.B.

Next time, i will not make any predictions. Koepka was my favorite. Lowry is a big surprise. But he played as a Champion.

Hat's off to Lowry - what a performance. As for JB - needs to work on his mind- he gave up and lost a lot of money at the same time

I believe that if Koepka would have made a few putts in the beginning holes he would have contented but probably not won. Could say the same for Fleetwood.

I agree UGP. He was not able to buy a putt today. Very near, never in.

All I could find about JB's 87 was possibly JB felt pressured to play faster and
Brooks K was asking a rules official to do something.

One article said JB could not decide what to hit off the first, an iron for most,
then hit it OB.   He then took time to switch clubs for his 2nd tee shot.

I thought the R&A had the balls to penalize for slow play.

I agree. Slow play in the case of JB is a long history.

Love watching the Open across the pond, courses are so different from ours over here.  All the players though seem to make the adjustment needed to score.  Tough luck for Rory on his opening hole, he did make it exciting on Day 2.  Steve Lowry earned his win with solid golf for 72 holes.

If you were wearing a beard, you would look very much like this champion! 😉

I saw some comments by BK about JB. His biggest complaint is that JB does nothing to prepare for a shot until it is his turn. He sited that JB doesn't even put on his glove until it is his turn to play.

It's very frustrating playing with a slow player like JB. Anyone who's played tournament golf knows what I am talking about. Personally golf is a 3hour 30 minute round if people are ready to play - that means not rushing - just being ready when it's your turn.
