1:10 tee time

$45 per

Tees: overseeded and pretty patchy in places.

Fairways: Overseeded but pretty thin. Bare spots in places.

Rough: dormant Bermuda was very thin. The green surrounds and collars were spray painted and not much fun to chip from.

Greens: the best part of the course. While they need cutting and rolled, they were in pretty good overall shape.

Pace of play: just over 4 hours

Overall: A big old MEH. Maybe it was because I paid the same for a MUCH better conditioned Meadowlands the day before, but Sandpiper just seemed worn and tattered. When neighboring courses have managed their fairways and even their rough and green surrounds so much better it makes for a bit of bade taste.

The cart paths have more pot holes and cracks than the NJ turnpike.

Just so many better choices in MB.

Thanks for the report.  The last time I played SB the greens were fantastic but the rest of the course was just ok.  Did you notice all the exposed tree roots in the rough?

Appreciate you taking the time to report.  We don't see a lot of info on Sandpiper Bay on the site.

Haven't played there yet.  Maybe someday, just to check it off the list of MB courses.

Thanks for the report on a place i havent played. That is a statement cart paths have more pot holes the NJ Turnpike, that must have been one bumpy ride.

@tadpole absolutely! I didn’t want to pile on but had a few offline shots that had to be played from exposed roots.

Thanks for reporting once again @brattenj.

SPB is supposed to be on my list for my upcoming MB golf trip and I hope conditions will improve till my arrival... pot holes excluded, of course! 😉

@jbshepherds sounded good. To be honest, this old boy from middle TN has no clue if the Jersey turnpike has a ton of rough parts.

Thanks for your report on Sandpiper.  We have played it many times this winter as the price is right on our Passport, conditions are spotty yes and TLC is much needed, hopefully they will begin to bring the course back for winter golfers.

2:30 tee time

$35 per

Bay/Piper

POP just over 4 hours

Tees Tips

Concur with most of brattenj's above assessment. This was our day 1 opening round.  Enjoyed it and price was right.  My opinion is a bit less stringent than brattenjs.

Par 3s had nice length from Black tees. Lots of water on Bay 9.  Not so much on Piper.  Our scores were higher on Bay than Piper. Course could use a bit of TLC

PA turnpike has way more cracks and potholes than SB cart paths.
