Both course play with un overseeded greens - fast and smooth, I like them at 11 ish. Wild Wing was seeding some of their fairways again while Tidewater had just finished overseeding, and it hadn't come up yet and we were cart path only. Two very different courses. I like Wild Wing except for #16. TW has some very awesome holes, with big numbers lurking from mis hit shots. If you haven't played either, put them on your list. WW is a JW mid tier special!

Greens Not overseeded is nice. Non overseeded greens was becoming
popular with the new hybrids, but it seems more have gone back to
overseeding greens.

Thanks!

@artmbgolf

It would be interesting to know why some course superintendants are overseeding their greens again.

@s333h

One guess for the over seeding is to stop the complaining the Pro Shops get from the customers.  Again just a guess, me I do not care what the course looks like brown or green as long as the conditions are consistent.

Yes, for sure. Others, like the Grande Dunes Members Club opts not to overseed this winter, instead opting to apply a grass-friendly paint to fairways and greens in order to provide visual definition. Many golfers do not like to putt on painted greens.

Every time I see a Wild Wing post I get mad that the owners demolished the Falcon course there.

I hear it is still sitting bare with no homes built.

Not sure if that is still the case, but Falcon was a real nice course.

Tidewater one of my favorites. Still hard to believe the owners let the conditions go bad a few years back.

Thankfully it is in great shape again.

They may have built on a couple Falcon holes, like 1-3.  Some houses have
been built on Woodstork + Humm, but not a lot.

Wild Wing housing has not been popular like Carolina Forest housing.

How's the condition @ Tidewater?  I know that overseeding of fairways, green surrounds and tees was slated to take place on 11/29.  Has the seed successfully germinated and smooth-ed out the surfaces?

Seed had not germinated when I played there - we were CPO

I'm going to put my two cents in regarding over seeded greens.  When the greens are dormant and rolled, they are typically the smoothest and fastest your will see. I'm not a big fan of over seeded greens.  Over seeded fairways if well maintained, are great.  If they are not well maintained you might lose a ball in the fairway!  In the end, I've become a big fan of greens that are not over seeded but are smooth and fast.  Great winter golf conditions!
