I played KN last spring, so I saw the renovated front 9.
I plan to play KN again this spring.
I agree that the layout design does not play harder, but I noticed that the fairway
bunkers have more of a lip now and the greens have more slope, so overall it can
be harder to score some days, depending on where your ball lands.

The front-nine renovation focused on restoring original design elements and enhancing playability. On the hole 6, one of the three fairway bunker guarding the landing area was removed to open up the risk-reward dynamic. This reduces visual clutter and makes the "gamble" (aiming for the island fairway) feel more approachable without diluting the penalty for errant shots. The remaining bunkers were reshaped with a rugged, native aesthetic—deeper faces, improved drainage, and native sand/grass edges—to blend seamlessly with the Carolina pines and lakes surrounding the hole. This ties into the course-wide bunker refresh, which added strategic variety and visibility.
