Named the Golf Course of the Year in 2018 by the Myrtle Beach Owners Association, Meadowlands is now one of the four finalists for the National Course of the Year Award (NGCOA).
Nice recognition for this popular golf course. Many improvements have been done to this course in recent years including: the redesigns of two holes, the elimination and redesign of numerous bunkers, strategic removal of trees, new TifDwarf bermudagrass greens. Well done for the owners.

That's good, because it used to (~2008?) have some goofy holes and some inconsistent conditions.
I enjoyed this course the few times I've played it. Was scheduled there last October but it was still closed due to the hurricane. They do seem to have problems with wet conditions while their sister course - Farmstead - just 1/2 mile away is usually drier.
Another one on the to be played list
Does anyone know how the GCotY gets chosen? I like Meadowlands - not sure what it did to earn the award.

I hope that one of the redesigned holes was number six. That elevated fairway seemed to get me every time. The landing area on the third hole always presented a challenge to me. Did I hit it far enough to give me a good chance for my second shot.
Congrats though to the staff at Meadowlands for this acknowledgement.
I am hoping that it is this hole. Not an easy one.

Yes, they fixed #6 by bringing making the fairway more level - really helps

It is a good news. Thanks for this information.

Thanks for the news, it is a course we get to a few times over the winter.

On Hole #3 they reduced the size of the lake, I think with dirt from the hole #6 fairway plateau.
Now on hole #3, there is a wider fairway to the right, so we can drive past the beginning
of the lake and get a shorter shot to the green.

Golf Holiday has a panel that votes on MBGCOTY. They have criteria like giving back to
the community.
Many of the average courses that have won over the years, have won the year after
they did a big renovation, so it was more like comeback or most improved of the year.
Some premium courses have not won and several of your tier 4's have won.

Took me almost ten years to convince the ol' man to make that change. He did it right after I left.
