Hey everybody,

Me & 3 buddies coming in from Augusta May 2 - 5. I've been reading everyone's feedback on most of the courses when I scheduled our tee times and would appreciate any last minute input. We're staying in Ocean Isle so restaurant recommendations would be great too.

Thur 5/2 PM Thistle

Friday AM River Hills

Sat PM Long Bay

Sun AM Burning Ridge.

We might try to add a couple of rounds either Friday PM or Saturday AM. Condo is close to Pearl & I'm thinking you folks like the West course there. ( I think we played the East a few years back & enjoyed it).

I think I put our tee times on the calendar correctly and will post after our rounds so I'm not just lurking anymore!

Thanks for all the info, it's been a huge help!

Chuck

If I was staying up there I’d try and play Rivers Edge. Arnold Palmer design only right coming from Augusta.

Try and eat at Chianti South right by the entreance to the old Heather Glen golf course.

I think all of your courses have been reviewed recently.

Burning Ridge is away from your lodging, unless you planned it as on your
way home and a low rate.    Wild Wing is a better course and single tees, so if you are
playing early, you should play faster, especially if first off.

More Food:  Clarkes (across from River Hills) + Boundary House in Calabash.

It's more fun not lurking. ?

We played Rivers Edge a few years back ....one of the holes is actually my wallpaper on my iPhone. It was a very scenic course but wasn't in the best shape at that time, but may add it again instead or Pearl West.  And we also played Wild Wing which we liked except it was end of February so cold and windy (We are going home that way Art). We're just trying out the different courses this time around and wanted to make sure we were getting on to some more good ones. Thanks for the food tips too, we tend to eat a lot after we play!

Might want to try MBN Southcreek for your last round going home. Burning Ridge however is certainly acceptable to play.

Based on where you are staying here are some restaurants I would recommend:

Pizelli's in Little River.  Local Italian place with really good food reasonably priced.

California Dreaming - sister restaurant to Carolina Roadhouse.  Great food & service.

Martini's - on Hwy 17 in NMB.

Crab Catchers on the intercoastal waterway in Little River.  You can sit out on the waterway and enjoy some good food & drinks.  Mainly fried food.

You have nice MB courses, Pearl West has been good all year.  Another spot for food is Joey O's, good pizza and other Italian treats, it has been very busy since it opened so you may have to wait a bit.  Lots of good spots as well on the waterway by the Gambling Boats off of Mineola Drive.

Ok so I come to you guys with my head hung for failing to give you our reviews of the courses we played on this trip in 5 removed link I’m going to be looking for some input on our new plan so I’ll post that now. We did indeed play Thistle, River hills, Long Bay, and Burning ridge. Of those we all liked Long bay the best. The layout was fantastic and the greens were in great shape. Thistle was not as good as we were hoping, didn’t seem to be taken care of to it’s full potential. Even with that we still enjoyed the round. River Hills was our number 2 and was very enjoyable but still not in the greatest of shape. There were a lot of players that day (Saturday) but play pace was still decent. Greens were the best of the trip. Burning Ridge was ok, just meh...and we all wished we’d played Long Bay the last day instead. Anyway sorry again for the late reviews. BTW Is this the right way to review or should I have started a new thread. Our condo was beautiful but I don’t think we’d stay there again because it’s pretty far out. Thanks again for all of your help.

Thanks again for all of your help.

It would be more organized if your next trip report is in the MB trip report folder.
