Just got back from our annual golf trip. It was a rainy one. Just missed the good weather by a couple days 😉 We did end up going to Wild Wing after the course we were going to play on the drive down Thursday (Sept 25th) in Virginia got rained out. Here's a quick summary of course conditions at each of the courses we were able to play:
Wild Wing - I'll first caveat this with the fact we were in a complete downpour for about 5 / 18 holes. Finally got some sun the last two holes. Course was actually in really good shape. Tee boxes and fairways looked good (and thanks to the drought you all have been having, course took the heavy rainfall very well). Greens actually looked decent. The 18th green was really the only one with noticeable damage that was in the last stages of full repair. Gotta think as long as the weather is ok, Wild Wing should be back to normal for almost all of October and a recommended course to play.
Whispering Pines - Renovation was done really nicely here. Have to say there was almost too much beautiful, powdery sand some of the bunkers 🤣 But, bunkers were much nicer than I remember when our group played here 3 years ago. Tee boxes and fairways were in pretty good shape and the greens were awesome . . . rolled really nice, especially for a course like Whispering Pines where you're not expecting a premier experience given the lower-ish greens fee. I did notice the course chopped down a few trees and in some cases, I think they were still doing some tree removal on some of the holes (don't quote me on that).
Prestwick - Probably don't have to say much . . . course was in awesome shape all around. Always a tough test.
Legends Moorland/Parkland - Greens at Moorland were a bit beat up and bumpy but more than playable. I only say this because the greens at Parkland were in considerably better shape and looked / rolled awesome. Tee boxes and fairways all were in pretty good shape at both Moorland and Parkland so no complaints there. Usual close to a 5 hour round at the morning round at Moorland but to be expected given the double-teeing. However, I was surprised how slow our round at Parkland was in the afternoon. On previous trips, we always feel like we are the only ones on the course at Parkland in the afternoon. Not the case this time, as we were waiting about 5 minutes minimum on every tee box starting with #3 and until the 18th. Think that's the first time that's ever happened to us playing an afternoon round at Parkland. Love the course regardless.
Unfortunately, we were rained out of both our Monday rounds, which were supposed to be Legends Heathland and Arrowhead. So, no reports there and just got some rain checks to be used most likely next year.
Thanks for reporting, Glad to hear the renovations at Whispering Pines went so well. Hope you have better weather next year.
Good to hear about WP renovation and WW greens improved.
I think the replay pace at Parkland or other courses can depend on the day
of the week and/or if any slow groups are out there. Some groups clown
around and drink on replays.
Thanks!

Thanks for the update on a lot of course I have played and enjoyed playing and one I didn't play before in MB. Glad to hear good things on Whispering Pines, that was my daughters for MB course, so she has a soft spot for it.

Thanks for your report, agree with you on Prestwick always an awesome course to play.
Thanks for reporting @cxc491! It's just too bad that the rain ruined two of your planned rounds!
