Another 1:30 tee time today. Beautiful weather.
Based on some recommendations here we headed to Burning Ridge.
Course is in much better shape than MBN West from the day before.
Tees, fairways, greens all in solid shape.
The greens here are TINY. Having never played here before it is hard to tell if they have always been this small or if the course has downsized them gradually over time. Also many run “left to right” and are very skinny from front to back making GIR a true accomplishment.
The layout was fun and was a relaxed pace.
Only gripe of the day is like a broken record for this trip. CART PATHS ARE ROUGH.
At this point it would be easier to just rip the paths up and make them dirt.
Many courses in this country have paths only around tee boxes and greens and I think it is time many MB courses follow suit.
BR is a course built in the 1980s, when only a
premium course got big greens. BR got new greens about
20 years ago. I haven't played it in about 10 years, so
I can't say if the greens shrunk, but they often do
on older courses, from invading bermuda or mowing.
If you saw a lot of room between the green and bunkers,
that would be an indication they shrunk.
Thanks!

Burning Ridge is undervalued. This golf course had been the golf course of the year in Myrtle Beach some years ago. A good layout!

Have not played Burning Ridge in years. Need to get back again last time I played they had the west and east course.
