Quick question - family vacation planned from 10/4 - 10/11, and my two sons & I are looking to play 3 rounds.  Does anyone have some thoughts for that time frame?

I have been going since the 80s, and have played most of the courses over time, but that was during the summer months.  I have only been a few times in October.  A couple we have looked into are Legends Heathland & World Tour, and Crow Creek was under consideration until I read some reviews noting that their greens really do not recover from the summer heat until November.  (I believe Art mentioned this in his fall 2024 review)

We are definitely open to suggestions, advice, etc.

Thanks so much!

There isn't much different considerations between courses on a summer trip
compared to October.   Bent greens like Wizard, MOW + Crow Creek may not recover
as we like them until at least Oct/Nov, depending on how hot summer was.

If one of your sons is under 17, look for courses with JR playing free with a paying adult.
Some may have rules like PM only.

In Oct it's also good to know when a course overseeds, to avoid that maint.
Most do it after your dates, but some start anytime in Oct.

Heathland + World Tour are good choices, if you would like them.

Oct is fall peak season, so rates are higher than summer.

Premium rates:  Grande Dunes, Barefoot, TPC, Tidewater, Thistle, Kings North,....
Mid: Arrowhead, MBN West, Shaft Glen,....

Mostly depending on your criteria.

@artmbgolf
Thank you, Art, for the feedback. My youngest is now 27, but I was fortunate to take advantage of the Jr. playing free with a paying adult for many years.

We played Grande Dunes, Tidewater & MOW last year. TPC, Moorland the year before.

We have narrowed the 3rd down to one of these four: Thistle, Barefoot Love, True Blue or Pawley's Plantation. While I believe any would be a good choice, do you have a favorite in the group?

Thanks again for your feedback!

All 4 courses for your 3rd are good top MB courses, but I think most would
rank Pawleys 4th, for the housing and lost ball doubles on the par 3's 13 +17.

True Blue is the most unique, thanks to Mike Stranz, with wide fairways,
risk reward doglegs,  precise shots needed into many of the greens.

Conditions may be a wild card, but if conditions at your four are good, you really can't go wrong with any of them.
