Golf to me seens to be a Father/Son type of thing, seems everyone's Dad taught them or introduced them to the game.

My Pops got as cushy job and they asked him if he wanted a Membership to Raleigh C.C. or Day Care for his kids as a PERK. Needless to say, my parents used RCC as Day Care ... LOL, they'd drop us off at 7:30 and pick us up at 3:30. Dad introduced me to the game, Sammy Brewer taught me how to play and his 2 Assistant Pro's, Billy Harrell and Billy Newton headed up the camps/clinic's. I'm forever in their debt as they molded me and my game, they made golf fun and enjpoyable. They lite the fire of my passion for the game. SO much so I made Golf my occupation .... how about you guys, who turned you on to the game?

Father - he was an excellent ball striker with a horrible short game. Had a set of clubs hanging from my crib. Like BN - spent the summer at the golf course with my buddy growing up.

Golf is just an excuse to drink whiskey and smoke cigars

My next door neighbor ask me to go to the golf course with him. We were 13 at the time I had no clubs and had never been to a golf course. I was hooked after that with the game it was about 6 miles to the course. I was working at a small grocery store where i saved enough money for a used set of clubs. In the summer time I would walk to the course and back sometimes I would catch a ride home. I was self taught by hitting lots of balls and playing 36 to 54 holes a day. I have met some of the greatest people and friend because of this great game called golf.

My father was a golfer.  At around 14 years old, having only hit
some real shots on the range, after playing miniature golf with
mom, dad and brother, I wanted to earn some $$, so my dad
brought me to a private course, where they have caddies and I
caddied. That was Wilmington CC (DE), which hosted the
Fed Ex Cup in 2022.

Soon after that I got clubs and a JR membership at
a local course, Rock Manor, which has been rebuilt and I still
play there a lot.  I played some with my father + mother, but
mostly with JR golfers and friends.

I don't remember etiquette being preached to me by my
father.   It was learned a little at a  time from caddying,
pro tips on JR days, watching others, common sense, etc.

My wife and her family!

One of my biggest regrets in life is the fact I began to play golf after I turned 40 years old.

But, hopefully, it's never too late to embrace such a magnificient sport!

I grew up near a private golf club.   My parents sent me there to caddy when I was 10.   Feel in love with the game.   Later worked on the grounds crew during summers in college.   Sadly it closed about 10 years ago.
