Good evening all!
After a three years "forced" absence from Myrtle Beach, it is with an almost indescribable pleasure that we are back for a period of one month and that we will make the most of what the “Golf Mecca” has to offer to us, golf lovers.
It started off on the right way today, with exceptional weather (immaculate blue skies, light winds and a temperature of 27 degrees Celsius), at The Pearl Golf Links, in Calabash (near the border separating North Carolina from South Carolina).
Since the end of 2019, this course has been reduced from 36 to 27 holes, with three nine holes being named West, East and North respectively. After our registration, which was done in the rules of the art, as it is always the case at this place, what a pleasure then it was to find ourselves at the tee box of hole #1 of the West course, and to to be literally in the middle of nature to smell the smell of pine, to listen to the birds singing, and to be in complete peace of mind (there is no housing at all here).
In this peak season period, the two nine holes we played (West and East) were in excellent condition. The West course looks like a links-type course, while the East course is more wooded with fairly wide fairways that remind us a lot of many of the courses we have back home in Quebec.
Tee boxes and fairways were well supplied on the grass side, and the sand traps (we visited a few…) were simply impeccable. As for the greens, they were in excellent condition, although the speed was rather "medium", most likely because we played in the afternoon.
That said, our favorites holes are certainly holes #7, #8 and #9, both for the West and for the East, On the West, holes #7 and #8 allow you to have a very beautiful view on the side of the neighboring course (Oyster Bay) and the #9, which is a par 5, is quite special in terms of design. The green, which is fairly steep, is well protected by water and two sand traps, which requires precision for your second or third shot. On the East side, here too, holes #7 and #8 offer a view of Oyster Bay, and hole #9 (a long par 5) is simply outstanding! Those six holes alone are more than worth the trip as far as we're concerned.
All in all, a great golfing experience today and we would definitely recommend The Pearl Golf Links, which offers great value for money and interesting golf no matter which of the three nines you are called upon to play. play when the time comes.
How about your own favorite Pearl?
Next round: this Wednesday, April 27, at Sandpiper Bay!
P. S. : special thoughts to our friend @JW11, THE quintessential lover of The Pearl... and all Pearl lovers! 😉

Sounds like all is right in the golf world. Save some of that nice weather for next week as my group heads down on Sunday.
Good to see you visited my girlfriend Pearl at the beginning of you trip Denis.
She's a beauty even if sometimes she's a little out of shape.
Good to hear she has been taking care of herself recently.
Happy for you Denis that you finally are again allowed to visit MB !!

@JW11 : cart paths weren't that bad at all! Sure, it can't be compared with places like Barefoot, but since my wife never complained about that fact during our round, there's nothing to really be aware about! Thanks for your support over the last few years!
