Played at Streamsong Blue Thursday December 5th. Rated in the top 10 courses in FL. Little on the cool side for Fl with highs in upper60’s but fortunately little to no wind. Streamsong is located in middle of nowhere but close to Tampa. Red is one of 3 courses at the Streamsong resort. Doak was the course designer. I had played Red when it first opened about 5 years ago. Most of the play is from people staying at the resort according to the fore caddy we had. One of 5 courses I played during trip to the Ft Meyers area.
Courses were built on old mine site so lots of elevation change for Fl. We played around 11AM which allowed us to take carts. The course is walkable but lots of elevation changes and pretty good hike for green to tees. During this time period if played before 11 had to carry or take a caddy. We rode but had to take a fore caddy which was good thing. Very few trees on course but lots of sand and grassy areas but grassy areas are really not in play. Lots of traps in fairways and around greens. Fairways and greens in good shape but greens were the fastest I think have every played so hard to give them stimp reading but would guess 12+. Even with forecaddie reading putts it was impossible for me to get first putt close to the hole. Down hill putts were impossible to get close to the hole. Lots of three putts or more in our foursome. The greens were to the point where not fun to play. Not sure why a resort course would have greens so fast but guess some people like them that way. Greens were not only speedy but had lots of slope to them. Not sure if I would play the course again since was expensive and tough to play but good to play golf in good weather conditions this time of year. Not sure if greens are this fast year round but if you play there I would check before hand regarding green speed.

I have not played there, but I have noticed in the various "best of" listings,
that the Streamsong courses entered the public lists around the top.

I would like to play this course one day. It seems a great design by Doak. Thanks for sharing!
''It's just golf, let's have fun''
The three Streamsong courses are all considered top end. Would be nice one day to play all of them. Then head over to World Wood to top it all off.
Golf is just an excuse to drink whiskey and smoke cigars
Played Red & Black 2 years ago & it is a true test of golf - especially putting on those greens. Knowing about the greens ahead of time helps so you don'y get disgusted with 3 putts (or more)! The Black course greens are even more diabolical than Red!
I didn't know you could take a cart on Red as I was told that it was walking only unless a physical issue warrants riding.
Did you stay at the resort? Definitely upscale & worth treating yourself to if possible. They have skeet shooting and fishing there as well. Maybe if the golf isn't so good you can try taking your frustration out shooting clay pigeons!
I would certainly go again - Thanks for the report

I just read a report on this place yesterday. Thanks for posting!
