I was down on a family getaway, staying at the Orange Lake resort. I got in 3 rounds, both resort courses & Southern Dunes playing as a single.
Apr 24 Legends course at OL
Palmer design course, conditions are top notch, greens rolled quick, 3 putted 1st hole getting the speed. I was put with a group of 3 youngsters (early 20's) visiting from Chicago, they had me laughing all morning ragging on each other. We saw a few big gators out sunning on waterside banks. I had a decent round going except for double bogey's on 1 & 18, shot 83
We were 1st group out & got our round in at 3hrs 45 mins, I asked the starter if we set a good pace for the groups behind, he laughed & said we were 30 mins ahead of the 3rd group out, 2nd group out was only 5 mins behind.
Apr 25 Southern Dunes
paired with a snow bird who lives on the course, 3rd group out, Jack helped me navigate a few of the holes that needed local knowledge. we played the 18 in about 3:40, nice pace, group ahead moved well, all locals.
We played a similar game, so it was a good day. The course was in mint condition, greens were sweet, rolled about 10-11 and some had some severe slopes, reminded me Heritage greens. Over all the course had a sort of True Blue look & feel to it, it was my first time playing there & will definitely go back again. Shot 86, missed a few putts that would have kept the score in low 80's
Apr 27 Reserve @ OL
Course was in good condition, not as well maintained as Legends but still good, greens were speedy but a touch grainy
I was sent out as a single ,4th out in the morning , starter tells me that I have a foursome ahead of me, a 2 some & a 4some, if the 1st group waves me thru to join the 2some, which I did but caught the 2nd 4some first, they sent the 2some thru already on 4. So the 3 of us finish 9, they said they are going play 1 & 2 as they jumped to 3 right away to get past the 2 4somes. I continued alone on the back 9, took me an hr to finish, 2.5 hrs total. shot 79 but could have been better, double bogey on 16 & missed a birdie putt on 18.
My wife & I had stopped in MB on the drive down for a couple of days to break up the drive & went play Rivers Edge, I posted a reply in the other RE post.
3rd hole, par 3 @ Southern Dunes, 199yds from tips, played 170 from tee's I played.
