Played True Blue today. 3 of us and played in about 3.5 hours or so. Not a huge crowd but, we were out fairly early.  Course is in very good shape. Bunkers were a little wet/rough but it appears they had a lot of rain recently. Was cart path only but, that started to eas up after a few holes(nice to have the annoucment on the cart screen). Greens were really good. Really like this course. Tough, but fair and there is some room out there off the tee. Just a great course, in my opinion. Saw a couple of gators

Years ago, if I remember correctly, the fairways were tighter and maybe more hazards.  You can get away with some stuff off the tee now. It would be a beast if it was tighter. Right now she is in good shape and they are starting to get that transition from overseed to Bermuda coming in.  Greens are really good.

I also saw where Caledonia and True Blue are running a special where you can buy a $100 gift card for $75.  Pretty good deal. Only issue is the rack rate for Caledonia is $249 right now and True Blue is $169.  I would recommend getting a Passport card if you are local or have access to get one.  The rate is much, much lower.  Thos rack rates are a little high in my opinion.

@herdman ive heard many times that when tb opened it was just brutal and needed "softening." the first time i played there was around 2004 i think and that work was already done. if i can figure it out i believe i have some grainy pics from that round.

wow. agree with you on those rates herd. sounds steep to me too.

Good report - don't play there often as it's over an hour to get there, and while I don't get charged, it's a hefty price for my playing partners. Good place to go in the off season. Some very tough holes at TB

If I didn't have the passport rate, I would not play there often.  $169 and over $200 for Caledonia is tough.

I love this course when I can get down to it, I love the waste bunker layouts and the fairways are all really forgiving, but those greens can be sooooo much fun to putt on, lol. I've seen some pretty big gators on that course too!

Ive heard many times that when tb opened it was just brutal and needed "softening."

TB was softened a couple years after it opened, but it was only on a few holes.

#3 - The right side of this par 3 green was very high and it sloped away from
the tee, so any shot to a right pin was kicked into the back bunker.
They flattened that so we can see the flatter right side of the green now.

#8 - They have changed the right side corner area, but it hasn't changed the
        hole much.

#9 - The par 5 2nd shot fairway area landing area over the creek was very small
and a long carry to reach on a 2nd shot.  It was almost all waste area.  Now
over over the marsh/creek is all fairway or rough.

I can't remember any other significant hole changes.
They have moved the white tee up on a few holes.

The peak season package rate for Cal is usually $199 and TB $159.
Vacation golfers end up having to pay that, to book ahead.  A lot of golfers on
the trips don't know what they are paying for golf, mainly due to low lodging
rates when 4 are in a condo.

Passport rate this weekend for TB was $59 for card holder and $69 for guests(that included taxes).  They were not real crowded.  They even told use we could go early and we had an 824 tee time(first time out) and they said go hit a few balls and go when ready.  Hopefully travel and tourism can open back up before long, if not places are really, really going to be hurting. Plus, one to a cart eats their cart inventory up.
