Enjoyed a warm winter day with the Lefster after a light drizzle before tee off. I hadn't played Shaft in a couple of years - that's about to change. Great condition - they did superb job of overseeding mostly wall to wall. All the added waste areas really make the green grass pop. Greens were true but slow about 8 to 8.5 Lots of rain lately so the course was wet and CPO. We played a threesome in 3 hours and 10 minutes. Even when not wet, Shaft plays long for it's yardage as all the greens are elevated and need to add a quarter to half club on almost all approach shots. It's a good mid tier layout in good condition, and it's 9 minutes from where I live. Last note - thank you Lefty for joining me.

Thanks for the update. You look like you grew taller since your last picture with lefty.
Hole numbers in the pics are #18, #17, #4, #6, and #13 tee shooting back toward the 12th fairway.
The White tee at Shaft is 6445, Gold 6000, so that's fairly long for White or SR
players.
Short sleeves in Jan looks good. Thanks!

I stood on the curb and in front - an optical illusion!

Thanks for the update, I've played Shaftsbury a half of dozen of times and it's always been in nice condition, happy to see they removed a number of bunkers, you would of thought it was a Nicklaus design with the elevated greens surrounded by bunkers, Ladies did not like this course, no roll ups for them..I'm pretty much a right to left player (sometimes way to much left) so dog leg lefts are fine with me...BTW I noticed lefty is bending at the knees and your minus a cigar ????
All those elevated greens make for some difficult up & downs! Thanks for the report.
Yes it's been so warm that the non-overseeded fairways at the Surf are about 2/3rds green and 1/3rd dormant.
I'm loving your warm temps and the natural and overseeded growth, were down in two weeks and I hope February and March are a continuation of your warm winter...
My friend Randy really enjoyed his day at Shaftsbury, he loved the course even as wet as it was. He also enjoyed watching your crisp shots to the greens, your score of 70 under those conditions was great. Always enjoy playing a game with you and your pics show how green course was. Will be in touch for next week.
I like these pictures of Shaftesbury Glenn. It is a course that i play each year. Solid mid-tier course.
Congratulations for your 70 UGP. You have a future as a golf pro ???? ????
Always fun to play with some friends. Good golf everyone.

Still need to play this one. Looks like you had a good day!

Thanks for the update UGP, played and enjoyed that course before the renovation. I need to get back out there to play it again.
Let the Big Dawg Bark!!!
All the rain must have the greens slowed down more. Ours were 9.5 yesterday and they usually run 10-11.
David, once it dries out a bit and we can arrange a day we can play Shaftsbury, just let me know what days are open for you.
