The last day of the pre-pre-forum outing takes place in Myrtle Beach at the Dye Club at the Barefoot Resort. This is my third round there, and Jeff’s second after playing there in last years Forum Outing. Today, we are teeing off at 9:08, and are paired up with another pair of Signature Gold members, were very nice, and played quickly, which was great as we were trying to get 36 holes in before the forecasted rain started late in the afternoon.
Once again Jeff’s driver was working pretty well and he started with a 39 on the front. He struggled a bit on the back, shooting a 43 to finish with an 82. My game, on the other hand, continued to struggle, coming in with a 91 with multiple doubles, and letting Jeff get a 2 round lead. The day was hot and humid, and the course was in very good shape, although the greens were a little slower than at the Neuse Golf Club yesterday afternoon. Also, the Dye Club doesn’t really play well into my shot type, which is a slight fade which either leaves my ball in a bunker, or a long second shot.
After we finished up the first 18 at the Dye Club, we headed into the pro-shop to find out what our options were. And at the Dye Club, they weren’t looking good, especially since a group had decided to replay nine holes and things were backed up on the first tee. There was room at the Love Course, so we headed over there where we got off on the back nine. Lots of Love at the Love course where we both shot 4 over for the back nine. The front nine started better, even with missing a short par putt on 1. I went 5 straight pars through 6, sitting at +5 for the round with three holes to play, when Jeff says “I’m glad to see you playing better after struggling”. Nooooooooooooooooo! I managed to finish the front nine with 3 doubles to shoot 83. This beat Jeff’s 84, so the count now stands 4-3 in Jeff’s favor.
Dinner was at Logan’s Roadhouse, where 22oz draft beer was 1.99. The food and service were excellent, and we had more than enough. Back to the room to finally relax, and sleep in to get ready for Barefoot Fazio for the pre-forum outing round.
