On April 22nd, our hosting provider suffered a very serious cyber attack (some of the details can be found here – https://www.a2hosting.com/blog/windows-service-update/). As part of the recovery process, they had to perform a system restoration which has caused us to lose about 1 week of posts (plus the week we were offline so that is why recent posts are saying 2 weeks old). We are still trying to get back the archive site; however, that is looking doubtful at this point in time as the software had some vulnerabilities and may not be permitted to be turned back on even if they can recover the data.
Thank you for your patience during this time.
TPC Myrtle Beach 3/11/19
Apologize for the delay on the report, but here it is.
First Impressions: Driving up to the clubhouse you can already see the rough and fairways were lush and green. Bunkers looked clean and course looked incredibly manicured.
Arrival and Range: Bag drop was incredibly smooth and helpful before parking. Our cart was loaded up as we walked to the clubhouse to check in. Once there it was a quick drive to the range. Unlimited Tayormade range balls until our start. Range was quite even so getting into a good balance was easy. Practice green was fast and true. And practice bunker was well kept.
1st tee and onward: once situated on the first tee you can tell the care that has been taken into manicuring the course. Tee boxes were even cut to create perfect boxes. Fairway and rough were easily discernible from one another.
Tee Boxes: Cut evenly to perfect boxes. Ground was firm but not hard to allow easy teeing. Staff must do an excellent job repairing divots on box, because I could not see one that was had bald spots.
Fairways: fairways were incredibly manicured. No wet spots. Excellent drainage. And to repeat the theme, divots we're well repaired with no chunks of divot laying around.
Rough: Lush, green, and sticky. Evenly cut throughout. Only dormant areas of Bermuda was around certain bunkers. The cut between the fairway and rough was very clean. Was good for catching a stray shot from going to far out of the way, but took any spin off of approach shots.
Greens: Least favorite part of the course. Complexes themselves and design I enjoyed immensely as Fazio makes it tough, but fun. The speed was a lot slower than the practice green. Greens were well manicured but not rolling at an 11 like the condition board said. Honestly rolling at a 7. Slow and hard to gauge some lines.
Only point lost was for speed of the greens, but that is subjective as I like the challenge of faster greens. Great wildlife and routing with excellent conditions made for a wonderful day.
