A very nice layout - don't consider it as good as Fazio, but close. Wide variety of holes. CPO on front off the path on the back - still some very wet areas. Greens a little thin on the over seed - rolled good at a moderate speed. tees and fairways real good. Cart paths good for the most part, though because of their design, got to watch the connecting edges - some hard bumps on my aching back. It's Barefoot, it's good not much more that you can add.

I agree that the layout is not as good as Fazio. The Love course is more forgiving than is Fazio. However, the challenge is fair for most golfers.

Thanks for your update.

Thanks for the report. I also think Fazio is a better course and I'm often puzzled at assorted course rankings which have Love ahead of Fazio

Never read anybody here who didn't love Barefoot Love!

It's a really fun course to play, and I'm not talking about the "ruins" out there! 😉

Those National course raters like to pick BF Love over Fazio.
Must be the ruins on Love or that Love has a lot of holes with options how to play them.

Thanks for reporting!

I like the back nine of Love and the back nine of Fazio over the front nines of either course. Although Norman may not be as memorable overall, I think it has two of the better holes at the entire facility #9 & #10.

I forgot to add this in my original post. I HATE pampas/love grass that has been planted in hitting areas. Yes it looks good, but makes no sense as a penalty and it slows down play greatly. People will search for the balls forever in that sh-t. And they won't find them! They are, however, great nesting areas for SNAKES! The Love course has lots of it not far off line from where you want to be.

I’m with you 100% regarding pampas grass. Around the tee box for looks ... fine, but 10 yards off the fairway in a waste bunker ... not good. Twenty years ago they probably planted just a couple plants but over time they grow viral and results in slow play and unnecessary penalty strokes.

I was in one large patch of them on #14 - not happy as it looked like a good drive right where I wanted to hit it, but wound up with a lost ball and penalty stroke because the (censored) love grass was way further out than I could shoot with my laser.

The trend is to reduce and not to increase the time to play golf. More, now with the new rules of golf you have 3 minutes only for searching your ball. So the chances of penalty are increased in this kind of grass.  Painful.
