Played Pawlet's Plantation on Tues 1/13. First off, the course layout is stunning! That said it is difficult for a mid to high handicapped to play this course. Even from the forward tees, red, for someone that only hits drives of 150-165 yds you will be hitting fairway woods all day. The greens are some of the biggest I have played and the only level part is the bottom of the hole! The staff was excellent and the playing conditions are tops. Pace of play was slow on first nine but we made up the time on the second nine. On Wednesday 1-14 played Sea Trails Maples. Much has been written about the course renovations. We coud not have asked for better playing conditions. Yes the greens are young but the roll is pure, Tees, fairways are in great shape, and in time the waste areas will be further groomed. I counted roughly 20 cars in the Maples parking lot while the other parking lot was full. I'd go back to Maples before the two courses.Never saw another group all day, played in under 4 hours and we,threesome, took our time. After playing both courses, the difference in having cart GPS at Maples and not at Pawley's was telling and very helpful to enjoy the round.

Did you park in the ST Maples lot or shuttle from the Jones clubhouse?

Thanks!

@artmbgolf There were few tee times at Maples, parked in Maples lot.

Pawleys  Plantation is often ranked among the toughest in the area — even from the forward tees, the length, tight fairways, massive greens, and strategic trouble make it a real test for mid-to-high handicappers who don't bomb it off the tee.

The cart GPS at Sea Trail Maples clearly adds to your enjoyment. Smart call on preferring Maples for now — it's player-friendly, in peak shape, and a relaxing contrast to Pawleys' intensity.

Great to hear about both courses.  I'm loving the Sea Trail reports as of late!
