Played The Pearl West/East for the first time yesterday. Great day to play, mid 50s with healthy winds.

First off, thanks to the staff for accommodating me. I showed up as a single and asked if I could play solo in order to take some pics and not bother anyone. I didn't mind if I was going to be out there for five hours and let them know I would gladly let others play ahead. CPO on just four holes. POP was still just 3:40 despite a lot of camera action!

On to the course: first impressions.

-For those that don't love tightly mown fwys. today was your day. Easily, the highest fwy cut I've played in some time. Don't know if that's the norm here or just a result of recent rains or a seasonal maintenance schedule. Lush and very playable.

-Really liked the par threes here. Each one had an area to play to-not bailout-away from trouble.

-Some true, three shot par fives.

-Good variety of hole widths. Some are really narrow while others will keep you in the hole if you're wild off the tee. Also, regarding tee shots, I realized after the fact, that a number of landing areas have the so-called "speed slot" that really propel your ball if you find it. Very cool.

-Greens were ok. They rolled well but a lot seemed bland to me. I didn't encounter a lot of big breakers. Could be wrong but the East seemed a touch quicker than the West.

-Best bunkers I have played from in years. Perfectly maintained.

Hopefully, the pictures will be labelled when they appear. The three pics of East8 show how the wind was blowing-stiff AND from THREE different directions within 5 minutes!

Thanks for the report.  Always liked The Pearl's layout.  Hope the changes they made lead to better conditioning.

They just let the overseed grow for some reason.  That's not the norm.

After closing 9 East holes #3-11, the West/East combo, that you played,
is the most scenic and memorable combo.

Thanks for reporting and the photos.

Nice pics of the Pearl, always enjoy a game there.  The Par 5's are definitely 3 shot holes unless you have a big drive like Brian does.  Thanks again for your post.

Fortunately, golf is played on grass, not on color. Great to see the Pearl at this time of the year. Thanks for your report.

Art,

I chose the West/East combo specifically because it was the most recommended by the posters on this board in a past thread.

So, thanks all.

Good report. Nice to hear that course ownership appears to be taking steps to maintain the layout.

Thanks for taking pictures of my girlfriend Pearl.

She's a beauty. Even when she isn't all dressed up.

I know Denis agreed with me.

Do agree 100 % with you John!

And you know what? If ever our paths intersect one day, and we have only one round to share together, The Pearl should be our "must" then! 😉
