Over time, I am going to try and bring over the content from the old site (now available at http://archive.myrtlebeachgolftalk.com ) that I can.  As mentioned in the welcome blog post (view HERE), unfortunately we can't bring the old forum content over.  I have brought over the Myrtle Beach Red Neck Tour newsletters (direct link HERE) and I am working on bringing my old Blog postings over.  That will take some time to do that, as well as the other stuff.  I will backdate what I can (easily done with the blog postings).  So it's a bit of time travelling getting that information moved across; however, I think it will be fun.  Hopefully others get some enjoyment out of it also.

As mentioned in the header above the forum, the MBGT Archive is currently unavailable due to security vulnerabilities in the software that it is hosted in.  Until we get those issues resolved, it will remain offline.

Sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause.

No problem. We will live without them.

Old forum content is probably only useful to those new to MB.

I don't know why the old site content is vulnerable, if it's read only.
If the concern is the minor member data, maybe that can be wiped out.

The issue is that the software that the old forum runs on is 2 major versions behind (it's version 7 where the latest is version 9) and there are no more security patches for it.  We can't update it because the author of  the forum software has abandoned it years ago.  The issue is that more and more attacks like cross site SQL injections, etc., that grant elevated privileges to the attacker are in the wild, and they generally go for older, insecure systems.  I have plugged some holes; however, there are some I have had to plug holes with work-arounds (for example, I cannot find the hack; however, if I leave the default mobile page on the home page, there's a redirect to some Asian web commerce page so the work around was to set the mobile home page to the forum, I can't find it in the code anywhere).

So given that, plus someone slipped in and put a bad file on all of my sites, luckily the new firewall software that is a part of the new site caught it and quarantined it and I was able to remove it from the rest of the sites immediately, the hosting provider won't allow insecure software to be published.  Until I can find a way to make publish it securely, it's on hiatus.

Thanks for the explanation.

I don't think many current members need the old MBGT forum.
You could post a poll and see what members think.
You can then be more confident about dropping the old site.

Let new members ask questions for advice.

I do not need the old forum. A sondage is a good idea.

A poll looks like a nice idea, but I think the results will go towards we don't need to keep the archives.

Once again Colby, thanks for all you have done so far!
