At the Surf Club on the chipping green, found some very thick rough. Open the blade and hit it like a sand shot letting the club slide under.

Ok, I see that pin and the "noodle" appears to be on the pin above the hole, is that what I am seeing? I thought they were putting the noodle in the hole to keep the ball up, do you just have to hit the noodle?

It's the practice chipping green - no holes. Surf uses the noodle on the course

ugp, great timing and thanks for that (well-executed) visual demo.

faldo and immelman were discussing that shot over the weekend at detroit gc. your video shows what they were explaining.

It seems very easy. Do you use a baseball grip for the chipping in the rough?

Thanks for this lesson and the video. I will use this method now.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it was you that asked me how to hit that shot. I use my regular grip - good luck!

It was not me, but i am very pleased to know how to play this shot now. Do you use a SW or LW? I suppose that all depend of the distance to the hole. In the video, i suppose that it was a SW. Correct?

I like using my SW on these shots. For a shorter shot I will open the face even more. Surf's greens are wickedly fast which is why you don't see the ball fly all the way to the hole.
