Course in very good condition. Greens rolled good - 9 to 9.5. Had half inch of rain last night but off the paths. Some wet spots, but could have played the ball down. Roughs were manageable, the old guys at the bag drop are awesome. Excellent layout - couple of holes the cart path is way too far from the tee (7 and 10 come to mind) it slows down play. Pace was 4.10 which isn't bad at all.

Our group has probably played Long Bay about 8 times over the years... but only once in probably the last 10. I always thought Long Bay was decent place to play a round... but some of the greens are on the smaller side...if you went pin hunting with your approach shots and missed the green... you would be short siding yourself and have a very tough up and down!!  That old Jack Nicklaus wanted to make you pay for being greedy and not playing to the middle of the green!!  🙂

Long Bay was originally built to be a private course, but the owner folded before
it was finished.  Then MBN bought it.

I wonder if maybe the tees away from the cart path got moved for some reason?

Always enjoy a game at Long Bay, challenging course with many good holes and as you said good conditions.  Thanks for your report.

I think Nicklaus just designed the paths/tees that way. It's not that big a deal - but IMHO a poor design of efficiency

Nicklaus designed a lot of courses for his ball striking, and his greens call for a high soft shot into them. Middle of the green is an excellent idea.
