Hearing that Colonial is going to be leased/sold from Founders Group. Rumor is that the group that owns Valley at Eastport is taking over.

Rumors have circulated many times. It could happen. We should know in a near future.

When FGI bought their 22 courses, they may not have realized that
Col Charters was in the bottom few courses in MB.

Col Charters homeowners won a fight to prevent redevelopment of the
course about 12-14 years ago, so it may not be attractive to developers.
The end result of that was changing some holes and building homes on
the driving range, with the new name of Palmetto Greens.  After a few
years with that name, it was changed back to Col Charters, maybe when
FGI bought it.

Maybe the owners of Eastport have a strategy to sell local rounds in that
area of MB, like a 2 course membership with Eastport or something.

Col Charters is below the quality of the rest of the FGI courses, so it makes
sense to get it out of the rewards Pkg and cut their losses.

We heard that FGI closed some courses in the spring to save $, due to
a low volume of play, but I didn't realize Col Charters was still closed.

No matter how improved the new owners make it, it's still not recommended
for package players, who are wanting a KN, Grande Dunes, TPC, etc, vacation.

Thanks for the heads up.

CC has a few good holes on it but was in horrible condition two years ago when I last played it. Founders continued to mow while CC was closed - perhaps it's in better condition now. Still not a great layout.
